Is there anything we need to do before my new driver starts Driver Ed?
Yes!
All Students are required to have completed 5 hours of practice driving, on the road, with a licensed driver who is at least 25 years of age before the first day of the driver ed course.
Is pick up and drop off available?
Pick up and drop off is typically at Training Wheels Driving School.
Can I fail Driver Ed?
Yes!
A passing grade is 75% average on all tests and a minimum grade of 75% on the Final.
Ten (10) hours of in-vehicle instruction, and six (6) hours of in-vehicle observation must be completed with a driving instructor.
What is the permit number for?
The permit number for NH student drivers can be ignored. It is just part of the software and does not apply to New Hampshire student drivers.
Is there a parent information session?
Parents/guardians are expected to attend the Parent Night Information Session, held on the first night/day of the Driver Ed Course during the time scheduled for that classroom session.
Can I be expelled from the driving school?
Any student swearing, smoking, vaping, juuling, and/or any tobacco use, lying to an instructor, and/or impaired by any means which to include smelling of alcohol or drugs or any disruptive behavior, to include bullying in/out of class including social media, cheating, unauthorized use of any electronic device, handheld or wearable, in classroom and/or car , or destruction of any property belonging to Training Wheels Driving School, LLC, for immediate dismissal and will not receive any refund.
What is your refund policy?
No portion of tuition will be refunded following the completion of the second (2nd) class. For student withdrawing from our program, prior to the completion of the second (2nd) class, refunds will be prorated at a rate of $100 per hour for each classroom hour and drive hour completed.
Deposits are not refundable and not transferable.
Is parental involvement needed?
Yes!
Driver Education, at Training Wheels Driving School, LLC, is a program. New drivers cannot successfully complete this program without parental involvement. Student, and parents/guardians, are expected to practice regularly to develop safe driving habits and become proficient at driving maneuvers.
Student that are not able, or unwilling, to demonstrate continued improvement, will be removed from the in-vehicle drive schedule until such time as they have caught up with the program.
What happens if I miss class?
By state law, students are NOT allowed to miss classroom instruction except for a good cause as determined by the instructor (may include a death in the family or an injury), and there must be documentation to support this.
No more than 4 hours (or 2 classes) of classroom instruction may be missed. The class time cannot be made up, but the student will have to make up any quiz or test that was missed and will be given an assignment that is equivalent to the material missed.
If more than 4 hours, or 2 classes, are missed, the student cannot continue the course and will be documented as "incomplete" on our state paperwork. If this happens, they have up to 6 months to complete driver education, either with us or with another program.
What is a state approved program?
Driver Education is helpful at any age, but it is required for individuals under the age of 18 who wish to apply for a New Hampshire driver license. To meet this requirement, anyone under 18 must take an approved driver education program which will include:
In addition to the above, each student must log forty (40) additional hours of supervised driving time with a parent, guardian or other responsible adult. Ten (10) hours of the additional driving practice must be completed at night. The additional driving time must be certified by the driver and the parent or guardian on the state approved Certification of Additional Supervised Driving (Log Sheet).
When can I start practicing driving?
New Hampshire does not issue learner's permits; however, a person learning to drive (regardless of the State they reside in) is permitted to drive under certain conditions. Persons whose driving privileges are currently suspended or revoked in NH or any other State, may not practice driving. For the purpose of learning to drive a car, a person who does not possess a valid driver license may practice driving on New Hampshire roadways as long as the below conditions are met:
The adult accompanying the person who is learning to drive must sit in the front seat of the vehicle and must hold a current, valid driver license. The accompanying adult shall be liable for any motor vehicle violation committed by the unlicensed driver.
